Straight outta Compton : The NWA biopic
I know I am very late to the party but I have just watched the NWA’s biopic, Straight Outta Compton! only now! Gosh, I feel like I have been living under a rock sometimes, sigh..I understand why it created all the buzz last year. It is a great movie. For those who havent seen it, It takes us into the making of one of the most influential Rap groups of our times and in the making of some of rap’s iconic hits. NWA members, Dr Dre, Ice Cube and the late Easy-E, are the precursors of Gangsta Rap and their influence on this musical style is huge. Also, It was interesting to see that the same issue of police brutality faced by the young African-Americans then is more relevant that ever today.
