As you may have read in the ‘About’ section of my blog, coming up with the name for my blog and the brand I’m creating was a journey of a couple of years. After finding the name, the mission was to find a designer who would give it a visual identity. As you may know, visuals are now a big part of any branding process, so it was very important that I find a person who would translate the name, House of Nzinga, into a powerful logo.
One day, as I was reading a blog called http://www.chicaafrica.co.za, I read an interview about Andrea, creative behind Bird&Design, who designed their logo. I instantly liked her, emailed her and the rest is history. Here is what Andrea has to say on working on the visual identity of House of Nzinga.
This was such a fun project for me because I LOVE to learn about new things, especially if they are completely out of my normal sphere of knowledge, and this one totally was! The name House of Nzinga was inspired by the Patricia’s name ‘Muzinga’ (which originates from the word ‘Nzinga’) and also by the historical African leader, Queen Nzinga.

Let me know what you think and check out Andrea’s other creative projects on her website http://www.birdandesign.com. Tell her I sent you 😉
